Suneetha. C | Chief R & D

With a PhD in Biotechnology, besides having a strong background in Horticulture, she is the recipient of various academic awards and distinctions, such as the Indo-American Hybrid Seeds Company (Gold Medal), Ganapathy Nanaiah Memorial (Gold Medal), Maxworth Orchard India Ltd (Gold Medal), as well as the USA Merit Scholarships in both Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs. She is also qualified for the National Eligibility Test (NET) for Lectureship/Assistant Professor conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, 2001.

Based on her research experience she has worked as a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in DST funded project entitled “Role of LeT6 and CKI1 genes during in vitro regeneration of tomato and capsicum “for one year (2003-2004), and the DBT funded project entitled “Development of enhanced disease resistance to some fungal pathogens in tomato and chilli through genetic engineering” for three years (2001-2003) at the Division of Biotechnology, Indian Institute of Horticultural Research. Her thesis titles for PhD included “Isolation, cloning and characterization of chitinase gene from entomogenous fungi Nomuraea rileyi / Metarhizium anisopliae” and “RAPD Characterization studies in China aster [Callistephus chinensis (L.) Nees]”. These works were a breakthrough in terms of Standardization of Protocols Isolation of DNA for the first time in China asters, PCR amplification was accomplished for the first time in Asters, and DNA Fingerprinting & Genetic Diversity Estimations accomplished for the first time in Asters. She has played host to an array of seminars on topics such as the Use of RAPD Markers in Ornamental Crops, PCR Technology and its Applications in RT-PCR.

She also has many publications and papers/posters presented at various distinguished conferences and symposiums,
At Wingene, she assumes the role of the Chief R&D and is actively involved in building technology skills, executing projects and creating awareness in the emerging areas of biotechnology. She also evaluates projects in the context of the development portfolio of the company, as well as ensures the alignment of R&D pipeline management strategies with the company’s business strategy.

Gulzar |Vice President

With a deep-rooted knowledge and experience in the field of Microbiology, Chemistry and Zoology, he also promotes the integration of departmental activities toward the company’s common goals, and plans strategic academic developments in training.

His dissertation during Post graduation included “Current Status of Microbiological Weapons in Biological Warfare’’. He has had many research papers presented and published at various symposiums, journals and universities, the titles of some of which include Isolation, Identification and Mutation studies on Serratia marcescens, Characterization of E. coli and transformation of GFP gene using puc 18; Extraction and purification of protease enzyme from Serratia marcescens; Production, purification and characterization of polyclonal antibodies in albino rats against different antigens; Isolation, identification and mutation studies on Serratia marcescens; Antibacterial activity of Phyllanthus amarus Schum and its phytochemical analysis; Bio-degradation of hydrocarbons using different bacterial and fungal species; Comparative study of citric acid production in various species of Aspergillus; Production and partial purification of lipase from Pseudomonas fluorescence; Bio-degradation of hydrocarbons using different bacterial and fungal species; Identification and mutatation studies on Serratia marcescens; Antibacterial activity of Mollugo pentaphylla and its phytochemical analysis; Citric acid production from whey with sugars and additives by Aspergillus fumigatus. These have been presented in institutes such as Osmania University, Erode Arts College, Cochin University of Science and Technology and published in journals such as International Conference on Biotechnology and Neurosciences. He has also participated as a Resource Person in seminars held at Chowgale College in Goa and Capital College in Bangalore.

Mehvish Saleem | Head Operations

An expert in Clinical Microbiology,she bagan her career as a post graduate in Microbiology from Al.ameen college(Bangalore University) 2004. She is also about to receive her Ph.D in Clinical Microbiology from Vinayaka Missions University in collaboration with St.Josephs PG and Research center Bangalore. Miss. Mehvish Saleem is actively involved in Research and has worked for many Research publications.

Her recent publications include:

  • Biodiversity of UTI pathogens in Diabetics.(European Congress of clinical Microbiology and Infectious diseases (ECCMID))
  • Antimicrobial efficacy of Herbal extracts on UTI pathogens isolated from type II diabetic patients. BIOVISTAS A journal of plant sciences.
  • Biodiversity of UTI pathogens in diabetics.BIOVISTAS A journal of plant sciences.
  • Other research papers to be published will include: Efficacy of curcumin in multi-resistant UTI pathogens.

    Apart from her research publications she has also participated in National and International conferences. She has also designed research and dessertation for UG/PG students. Her new projects involving life science students will include ' A parallel study for Methicillin Resistant S.aureus in higher and lower socio economic groups. Working as head operations she is also actively involved in working for the benefits of the organization. She is a source of inspiration for both students and her collegues.

    Shaista Anjum | Head Academics

    M.Sc Biotechnology from Kuvempu University 2007. Miss Shaista has an immense ability to communicate with students and an excellent hands on experience in enzymology/Molecular Biology and Microbiology. Already worked with MDS and engineering students, she has also students from various colleges to complete their dessertation work.

    Her recently completed dessertations include:

  • Biodegradation of plastics by Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Aspergillus Niger.
  • Induction of Physical Mutagenesis in Centella asiatica and confirmation through RAPD markers.
  • Efficacy of herbal extracts on S. mutans
  • Effect of Probiotics on the oral Microflora on S.mutans in school going children
  • Enzyme profiling of E.coli
  • Besides her active participation in Academics she is a frequent visitor for a number of colleges and has maintained an excellent expertise in organizing workshops. She is defenitely an asset for the organization.
